Privacy Policy

Voice AI Keyboard: Dictate lets you use your own OpenAI API key for voice transcription and optional AI writing actions. We do not run an advertising platform, sell personal data, or use data for cross-app tracking.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Voice AI Keyboard: Dictate iOS app, its custom keyboard extension, and this website (collectively, the “App”). The App is provided by Romano Licker (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

2. Information processed by the App

The App processes only the information needed to provide its features:

• Voice recordings. When you deliberately start a voice recording, the App records audio for transcription.
• Transcripts and AI-action text. The App processes transcribed speech and any text or prompt you choose to send to an AI action.
• Your OpenAI API key. You enter your own API key in the App. It is used to authenticate requests directly to OpenAI.
• Local app data. The App stores settings, selected models, your personal dictionary, and a limited recent history locally on your device.

3. How voice and text are used

When you initiate a recording, the relevant audio is sent directly from your device to OpenAI’s transcription service using the API key you provide. If you select an optional AI action, the text necessary for that action is sent directly from your device to OpenAI’s Responses service.

We do not operate a server that receives or stores your recordings, transcripts, prompts, or API key. OpenAI processes requests under its own terms and privacy policies. Please review OpenAI’s privacy information before using the App.

4. Local storage and retention

The App retains up to three recent recording files and their transcripts locally on your device. Older recordings are removed as newer ones are created. Cancelled and no-speech recordings are removed. The App may also keep recent local diagnostic records to help troubleshoot errors; authorization headers are redacted from diagnostic logging.

5. Keyboard Full Access

Voice features of the custom keyboard require iOS Keyboard “Full Access”. Full Access allows the keyboard extension to exchange recording requests and transcripts with the companion App through shared app storage and to make the network requests required for the features you choose. Standard keyboard typing remains available without Full Access.

6. Advertising and tracking

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your recordings, transcripts, prompts, or API key for advertising. The App does not track you across apps or websites for advertising or measurement purposes.

7. Your choices

• You can deny or revoke microphone permission in iOS Settings.
• You can stop an active voice session and choose a shorter session duration in the App.
• You can remove the keyboard or revoke Full Access in iOS keyboard settings.
• You can clear App data, including the stored API key, from the App’s settings.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above.
